The Resource Centre is a purpose-built stand-alone facility. The library collection consists of a large number of fiction, non fiction, reference books, VHS Videos and DVDs covering a wide range of subjects, interests and ability levels aimed at assisting students with their studies and to stimulate the enjoyment of reading and learning generally.
The Library also has 12 research computers linked to a printer available for students to access data bases and prepare assignments. A coin operated photocopier is available for student use.

Junior students may borrow four (4) items at one time.
Year 11-12 students may borrow six (6) items at one time.
Equipment Borrowings
Students are able to borrow certain equipment but they have to accept full responsibility for its care.
Length of Loan
Most items may be borrowed for two weeks. Some resources are available on overnight loan only.
ID Cards
All students are issued with an ID Card as part of the Resource Hire Scheme. Cards include a photograph and a bar code. Students should carry their ID Card at all times in order to borrow books through the computerised library system.
Lost ID Cards
ID Cards may be replaced at a cost of $6.00.
Lost Resources
Students who lose or badly damage items from the Resource Centre will be asked to pay the replacement cost.
BORROWING ID CARDS
ยง All students must use their ID card to borrow from the Resource Centre.
ยง No loans will be issued to a student with a defaced or unreadable ID card. Students must immediately buy a replacement card if the barcode cannot be read by a barcode reader or the photo is defaced. The student counter can assist with this.
ยง Do not borrow resources for or loan resources to another student. If these resources are lost or damaged, students will be required to replace them.
LOAN PERIODS
ยง Non-fiction resources may be borrowed for 1 week.
ยง Fiction resources may be borrowed for 2 weeks.
ยง Due dates are written in the back of all books.
ยง Reference and audio/visual resources are not for loan and must be viewed in Resource Centre.
ยง Senior Fiction is only available to Year 11 and 12 students unless a note is provided by a parent/caregiver.
ยง Certain resources required for assignments (such as those on subject trolleys) have a loan period of 1 day. Library staff will advise students if this is the case.
BORROWING LIMITS
All students may borrow 2 fiction and 2 non-fiction resources at any one time.
OVERDUES
ยง It is a condition of borrowing that students understand their responsibilities regarding the care and return of library resources.
ยง Reminders of overdue resources are placed daily on student notices.
ยง If a student has overdue resources, no further borrowing is permitted.
ยง For long term overdue resources, the following process applies:
ยง After 3 weeks, students are asked to visit library to speak to library staff regarding overdue resource. At this point, student access to school resources (network/Internet) may be restricted.
ยง After four weeks, a letter requesting return and/or payment of a replacement resource is sent home.
ยง Lost resources must be paid for. The replacement cost includes the cost of the resource plus a $5.00 surcharge. The cost of the resource is the only part refunded to the student if the book is later found.
TEXTBOOKS
  • All students receive information relating to care and use of textbooks at the beginning of the school year.
  • The condition of the textbook is noted when it is issued. It is expected that, while allowing for normal wear and tear, resources are returned in a similar condition. Problems with textbooks will be referred to relevant Head of Department.
  • If resources are lost, stolen or damaged, students need to inform library staff immediately. Do not leave it until the end of the year.
  • All students are required to place their name and form in their texts and check regularly that they have the correct books.
  • Students are not to loan their textbooks to other students or leave textbooks in classrooms.
Remember โ€“ Students are responsible for resources issued to them.
COMPUTER USE
ยง Computer resources provided by the Resource Centre are for school use. Students not using them for this purpose will be asked to make way for students who have legitimate use for these resources.
ยง Students using the Library pod or ELC are required to sign in at the library front desk before using computers.
BEHAVIOUR
ยง It is expected that students will observe the 4 C's and respect the rights of others at all times to study and work effectively.
ยง All students who come to the library from class, regardless of reason (computer issues, photocopying etc), require a note from their teacher. Students with no note will be asked to return to class.
ยง Students on spares are required to sign in and show their timetable to library staff if requested.
ยง Students who fail to observe acceptable levels of behaviour or follow these guidelines may be restricted from using Resource Centre facilities for a set period of time.
