Performing Arts Academy

All year 8 students choose to participate in either classroom Drama, Music or Dance.

However, for students with proven skill, craft and talent in these areas, Victoria Point State High School has developed an innovative and quality program to cater for this demand. To be fully implemented over the next two years, the Performing Arts Academy will commence in 2010 with specialist classes in Drama, Music or Dance for year 8 students only moving into Year 9 in 2011.

The P.A.A. will focus on delivering High Quality Performances on, and off, the stage as well as valuable industry experiences.

Students can choose to participate in either the Drama, Music or Dance programs. The programs will feature

2x70 minute classes per week over the whole year (non-academy students will have 2x70 minute lessons per week over one semester) - the inclusion of a possible 3^rd lesson/per week is being explored
Additional on and off stage experiences led by expert and experienced teacher artists complimented by industry artists/specialists.
A range of live performance opportunities to school, community and showcase/eisteddfod audiences.
An end of year Performing Arts Academy gala showcase.
