another year in sport continues to rapidly go by, we must take the time to
acknowledge some of the latest successes enjoyed by students within our school
one of our Year 10 students not long out of the headlines, Luke Harvey,
continues to add to his stack of already impressive achievements. Earlier this
year he claimed two Bronze medals at the School Sport National Triathlon
Championships, claimed victory in the Gatorade Queensland Triathlon Series and
was the 2015 series winner at the Triathlon Queensland State Series. If this
level of success, bordering on ridiculous, was not already enough, Luke has
since gone on to claim a second place at the recent Queensland School Sport
Cross Country Championships, earning him a place in the Queensland Squad to
compete at yet another National Championships.
Ryan (Year 12) and Sam Winterbottom (Year 7) also gained Queensland
representative honors in their respective sports. After standout performances
representing Metropolitan East, both Samantha (19 Years Netball) and Sam (12
Years AFL) were selected to compete for Queensland at National level. Well done
to both students, who no doubt have bright futures in their chosen sporting
mention must also go to Curtis Sullivan (Year 11), who earlier this year
competed at the Queensland State Boccia Championships. A fantastic and
memorable experience for him, as Curtis claimed victory in the Junior Division.
A wonderful effort!
strength of AFL at our school was also illustrated through the strong
contingent of VPSHS students who represented Metropolitan East at Queensland
School Sport AFL State Championships this year. Congratulations to Brandon
Brewster (12 Years), Ben Pickles (15 Years), Jake Chapman (15 Years), Ryan
McCallum (15 Years), Isaac Ryan (15 Years) and Jakob Damsma (15 Years) who all
achieved this high level of AFL representation.
many wonderful sporting achievements to celebrate. Well done to these students!
