Orientation week for Year 8 this year culminated in the traditional "Big Day In". For the newest students of the school it helped the family group classes bond and begin to connect with our school culture.
After all, it was not that long ago that the senior leaders who assisted on the day, were Year 8's themselves. It was wonderful to see the older student's mentoring and assisting the junior students. They did an amazing job.
Perhaps the best example of the Year 8's bonding, were the house chants that completely knocked our socks off! Or maybe it was in how well the students worked at untying themselves from their human knots, building a safe landing for their class egg drops or completing the numerous team games.
Another activity enjoyed by all was the tug of war. Working in their houses helped to create a bond that we hope will last their high schooling years.
After a fun and exhausting day it was wonderful to see so many of the Year 8 parents attend the BBQ where they could meet the teachers. A great time was had by all.
