Mind Matters Day

This Friday the 8th of September is Student Matters Day!

This term Student Matters Day is about moving forward.

It is important we try to accept that everything in life is temporary and dynamic so having a range of skills to support yourself through change is essential.

Students will have a choice of some activities and will be required to attend others.  It is an important day for students to gain and be exposed to different types of strategies and information and have an  opportunity to ask questions and clarify their understanding.  The activities will include:
  • Healthy Relationships: What does it look, sound and feel like? What is identity and how does sexuality and gender influence identity?  Presented by Life Education
  • Peer Power: a workshop on how students can approach their future with a growth or fixed mindset
  • Workshop on finding ‘balance’ in their own lives to use as a pathway to self-awareness and increased self-confidence and social functioning
  • Case studies from the School-based Police Officer in the areas of Cyber Safety, alcohol and drugs and personal  safety
  • Discover my Future sessions for Year 9’s presented by TAFE QLD
  • Indigenous Games presented by Yulu Burri Ba & Deadly Choices
  • The importance of mindfulness and an introduction to Tai Chi by the Golden Dragon Academy
