Year 10 Girls in Sport student and Queensland Academy of Sport diving
athlete, Paige McCartney, has been back at it again, achieving more amazing
results. Recently returned from the Junior Nationals representing Queensland,
she achieved two bronze medals in the 1 and 3 metre events and came 11th on
At the Queensland State Junior Titles, Paige won the
prestigious platform event and achieved a further two bronze medals in the 1
and 3 metre events. She also competed at the Victorian State Titles
and won the platform there as well!
In recognition of these amazing achievements, Paige has been
named as part of the National Junior Diving Squad and will be heading overseas
to compete later this year and perhaps early next year. She has also earned
herself a reserve spot for the World Junior Titles this September in Russia,
should other members of that Australian squad be unable to participate.
Such incredible efforts are no doubt a result of Paige’s
hard work in training, as she is now training a gruelling 28.5 hours per week
with the Queensland Academy of Sport. As a school community we are so very
proud of Paige’s achievements, and continue to support her in all that she is
doing in and out of the diving pool. Congratulations Paige!
