Victoria Point State High School is an affiliate with Bayside Secondary School Sport and the wider Metropolitan East Region, which provide the major school sport representative pathways for individual students. These Associations call for students, who wish to represent the district and region in a particular sport, to attend selection trials and/or submit a paper nomination.

Sports that students have the opportunity to trial for at district or regional level include the following:

*Cricket: Boys (12yrs & Under, 14yrs & Under, 19yrs & Under)

*Tennis (12yrs and 19yrs & Under)

*Baseball (12-14yrs, 15yrs & Under, 18yrs & Under)

*Softball (12yrs and 19yrs & Under)

*Hockey (12yrs & Under, 19yrs & Under)

*Surfing (18yrs & Under)

*Golf (19yrs & Under)

*Touch Football (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under, 19yrs & Under)

*Volleyball (15yrs & Under, 19yrs & Under)

*Netball (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under, 18yrs & Under)

*Rugby Union: Boys (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under, 18yrs & Under)

*Rugby League: Boys (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under, 19yrs & Under)

*A.F.L: Boys (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under)

*Basketball (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under, 18yrs & Under)

*Soccer (12yrs & Under, 15yrs & Under, 19yrs & Under)

When Bayside district and Metropolitan East trial dates are communicated to our school throughout the year, the trial dates and venues are advertised in the Student Notices, on the staffroom 1 noticeboard as well as via the school’s Facebook page, instructing students to collect necessary paperwork/information from the Sports Coordinators in staffroom 1. This process will continue as the primary way of notifying students/parents of upcoming representative trials, however in an effort to increase communication, another initiative will continue to be implemented.

In 2017, to ensure all VPSHS students have every opportunity to participate in these representative trials should they choose, we encourage parents/caregivers to notify the school via email: awalk214@eq.edu.au of their child’s interest to nominate for/participate in district/regional trials for any of the above sports. When the school receives information relating to trials your child has expressed interest in attending, sport staff can then deliver all required forms and documentation to the student or parents directly.

Summer Inter-school Sport Trials are also held in weeks 1 and 2 of Term 1 with the season commencing in week 3 Tuesday February 7 and Wednesday February 8:

*Summer Season Boys – Volleyball, Touch Football, Baseball, Basketball (7/8 and 9 only) and Cricket (10-12 only)

*Summer Season Girls – Touch Football, Basketball, Baseball

*Year 7 Summer Gala day: March 16 – (Boys Volleyball, Boys/ Girls Touch Football, Combined Baseball, Boys/Girls Basketball)

Students selected in Inter-school Sport teams are to submit their permission form at the Administration Payment window with their payment of $55.00 between Wednesday 1 February and Monday 6 February. See inter-school permission form for further details.

We look forward to continuing to provide your child with exciting opportunities in sport at Victoria Point State High School in 2017.
