term Victoria Point State High School once again competed in the annual school’s
challenge as part of the 48 hour Run for Redlands Charity Relay held locally at
the Sharks Sporting Club. The secondary school’s challenge requires student
teams of up to six participants to run as many laps of the oval (relay-style)
as they can in a 60 minute race against the clock.
We were proud to enter five
teams this year, the most of any school participating. All teams did an
absolutely wonderful job for a very worthy cause, completing a combined total of
187 laps! Special mention must go to the four-person team of Luke Harvey (Year
11), Connor Duffy (Year 9), Zac Maguire (Year 8) and Ashley Lang (Year 11), who
achieved the most laps of any team with a grand total of 42 completions over a
distance of 18.48km.
of our students achieved something truly special before a single lap was
completed however, having come to the event with a combined donation of over
$650. These funds raised were donated to the Redlands Hospital and the Redlands
Centre for Women.
trophies were awarded on the day. These were for the school who completed the
most laps, and another for the school who raised the most funds. Our
participating students, representing Victoria Point SHS, were once again awarded
both perpetual shields. As a school community, we are extremely
privileged to be able participate in an event such as this each year and look
forward to once again supporting this great cause in 2017.
