On Friday 6 February, Victoria Point SHS will be holding its annual Inter-House Swimming Carnival at the Cleveland Aquatic Centre. This year’s carnival is promising to be bigger and better than ever with the inclusion of Year 7’s, on what is shaping to be a sizzling summer’s day. All students are expected to attend to support their House and participate in the swimming events. The appropriate procedures (school contact, forwarding of medical certificates etc.) should be followed if your student is absent on this school day.

Students will be travelling to and from the Cleveland Aquatic Centre by bus.  Year 10, 11 and 12 students are to assemble at the Student Centre at 8.00am with Year 7, 8 and 9 students to assemble at the Student Centre at 8.40am. Buses will begin departing the school at 8:30am (for 10-12 students) and returning by 3:15pm.

A canteen is available at the venue where students can purchase snacks, drinks and lunch.  Students are also encouraged to bring their own food and drink (preferably water) as well.  As there is only limited shade at the venue, we strongly encourage students to bring their hat and sunscreen. A SUNSCREEN STATION will also be operational and advertised throughout the day, meaning students will have no excuse for getting burnt and dehydrated.

Students are permitted to wear house colours. However clothing MUST BE APPROPRIATE (MUST fully cover the back, stomach and shoulders – suitable shorts included). Male and female swimming clothing MUST be appropriate as well as covered up when students are not competing. Hairspray as well as face paint are permitted, however these should be applied at home ONLY. Any student found to be applying these at school or the venue will have them confiscated. Those students who choose not to comply with these dress and presentation standards risk exclusion from the carnival with possible follow up consequences. Poor behaviour and wilful property damage/vandalism occurring at school or the Aquatic Centre will also be dealt with severely.

There is NO COST for the carnival! Permission slips to be handed to Family Group teachers on morning of carnival ONLY. It's going to be a great day. See you there!
