Year 9 athlete, Luke Harvey, has had yet another fantastic
race, this time representing Metropolitan East at the recent Queensland
Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships in Toowoomba. He placed 3rd in
the 14 Year Boys 4km race achieving a super quick time of 13 minutes and 15
seconds, earning him a bronze medal. This excellent result was also more than
good enough to secure Luke a spot in the Queensland team should she choose to
take it. A very successful championships overall it was for Luke, as he also managed to achieve
a gold medal as part of the successful 1500m relay team.
In more recent efforts Luke has also qualified for the Triathlon
Queensland Talent Selection Program and broke the 1500m track race record for
the 14 boys age group at the Bayside District Track and Field Carnival. For
those that know Luke, these wonderful achievements do not really come as a
surprise, as he has showed great dedication to his training and pursuing his
goals. Simply put, he has earned and thoroughly deserves all that he has
achieved. Well done Luke!
