On Thursday 2 April, Victoria Point SHS will be holding its annual Inter-House Cross Country Carnival in and around the school grounds.
This year’s carnival is promising to be bigger and better than ever, as the day’s proceedings will include our third annual MINI GAMES CARNIVAL EVENT to be held prior to Cross Country in the afternoon. Students will have an opportunity to ‘try their hand’ at a variety of sport related mini activities within an Ekka-like atmosphere (all for house points). Mini-games carnival activities this year include wheel chair basketball and indigenous games as well as many other fun sport-related games and challenges.
All students are expected to attend to support their House and participate in the variety of events offered on the day. The appropriate procedures (school contact, forwarding of medical certificates etc.) should be followed if your student is absent on this school day.
Students will attend Family Group and Period 1 classes as per their normal Thursday timetable. The Mini Games Carnival will be held between Morning Tea and Lunch (altered bell times), with Cross Country to follow after Lunch (12:55pm).
The school canteen is available during Morning Tea and will be closed at Lunch. A Sausage sizzle will be run that day by Miss Knight and proceeds will go towards the World Challenge Nepal Trip. However, students are also encouraged to bring their own food and drink (preferably water) as well. As there is only limited shade at the venue, we strongly encourage students to bring their hat and sunscreen.
Students are permitted to wear house colours. However, students will be required to travel to school in their FULL SPORT UNIFORM. Once at school, they will be able to change into APPROPRIATE clothing (MUST fully cover the back, stomach and shoulders – suitable shorts and footwear included). Male and female running clothing MUST be appropriate. Students risk being excluded from carnival proceedings if they do not meet these dress expectations.
Aerosols (e.g. hairspray) as well as paint are NOT permitted to be applied at school (pre-application prior to school arrival is acceptable). Those students who choose not to comply with these standards and are found to be carrying these items at school risk exclusion from the carnival with possible follow up consequences. Poor behaviour and wilful property damage/vandalism occurring at school and outside the grounds will also be dealt with severely.
PERMISSION FOR THIS CARNIVAL TO BE RETURNED TO FAMILY GROUP TEACHERS.
