This Monday 20 July (Week 2, Term 3) Victoria Point SHS will be holding its revised annual Inter-House Athletics Carnival, taking place on site at the VPSHS oval. It is a wonderful carnival day full of fun and excitement. All students are expected to attend, support their House and participate in the various athletic and novelty events.
Students are permitted to wear house colours. Shirts MUST fully cover the back, stomach and shoulders – suitable appropriate length shorts and footwear included. Those students who choose not to comply with these standards will be sent to the detention room (student centre) where they will stay for the day OR until they change back into sport uniform.
To accommodate the inclusion of Year 7’s, the day will begin earlier than a usual school day. All students will be required to report to their Family Group classrooms at 8:20am to have their attendance recorded and their ID number written on their arm. This ID number is essential when participating in events. Teachers will then escort students down to the oval at 8:30am to be seated for the commencement of the carnival. Students are expected to stay within the CLEARLY MARKED supervised house areas unless competing.
Plenty of water and a hat are recommended in anticipation of the beautiful weather conditions. A SUNSCREEN STATION will also be operational and advertised throughout the day, meaning students will have no excuse for getting burnt and dehydrated.
The canteen will be CLOSED on this day. However, students will have an opportunity to purchase food from various fundraising groups in around the carnival. It is still recommended that students bring with them their own water and lunch. Students will only be allowed to sit and eat their lunch on the oval in their designated supervised seating area. All other areas around the school will be out of bounds during the day.
The carnival will conclude at approximately 2:45pm. The Champion House and Age Champions will be announced at the next available assembly opportunity.
