Summer inter-school sport in
2016 has simply flown by after a very short Term 1. District finals have recently
been completed in the past week with only our Open Girls Basketball team
‘flying the flag’ for our school in finals contention. After an amazing
undefeated season, the girls were able to continue their phenomenal run of
wins, accounting for Redlands College 23-12, making them deserved Bayside
District Premiers with their eyes set firmly on a Metropolitan Title.
It was both a positive and a
negative to see many of our teams come so close to earning a place in a
district final. For example, our Year 9 Girls and Boys Basketball teams, Year 9
Girls Touch Football team and Open Cricket team had wonderful seasons,
finishing in third place, however had to deal with the disappointment of only
narrowly missing out on the chance to contest a district final. Our Year 7
Girls and Boys Touch Football teams, who competed at the Inaugural Year 7
Summer Sport Gala Days, also finished fifth in very close competitions.
Overall, it is exciting to see a large majority of our teams building toward future
success in coming seasons.
Thank you to all coaches,
students and parents who have supported our teams along the way this season. We
now look forward to the upcoming season of winter sport.
