Dear Parents & Caregivers,

I am writing to further update you on the changing situation in response to coronavirus - COVID-19. The Queensland Government and Queensland Health have announced the easing of restrictions. Victoria Point State High School is excited to resume normal school activities, including assemblies, excursions and instrumental musical classes from 7 March 2022.

Face Masks

There will be no requirement for teachers or students to wear face masks from 6pm, Friday 4 March, although staff and students may choose to continue wearing one at their discretion.

Priority Rapid Testing for Students

Sick or symptomatic students must not attend school - symptoms of COVID-19. Students should attend their local Queensland Health testing clinics where they will be prioritised to receive a free rapid antigen test (RAT).

  • If the test result is negative and the student is well, they can return to school.
  • If the test is positive, the student will need to follow Queensland Health quarantine and isolation requirements

Should a student's household test positive for COVID-19, then the student will be required to quarantine as a close contact and cannot attend school while in quarantine.

If a student becomes symptomatic at school, they will be immediately isolated in a safe place, and their parents/carer will be contacted to collect their child. When the student is collected the parent/carer will receive a RAT to administer at home.

Please continue to contact the school as soon as possible to advise us of your child's absence via email or SMS stating: “STUDENT NAME will be absent due to COVID-19 for PERIOD OF TIME" to, student.absence@vpshs.eq.edu.au or 0427 075 986.

As we approach the business end of the term, please find attached the 2022 Tutorials and Homework Centre timetable. I encourage all students to access these valuable academic support services to maximise their opportunities for success through small group and one to one teaching and learning. It is important that students believe in their ability to perform at their very best both at school and in life and succeed through their actions in the classroom to Learn, Think and Perform.

Please join the school's Facebook page, connecting our school and our community through celebrating the success of our students' achievements which demonstrate our school values of respect, integrity and responsibility. https://www.facebook.com/VictoriaPointStateHighSchool/
